Radiation rising, hypothyroidism on the increase, uterine fibroids epidemic.
Iodine is certainly getting a lot of attention lately. As radiation from Fukushima continues to contaminate the environment and threatens the globe, iodine, a formidable mineral adaptogen, is rising to the forefront. And with good reason: Nutritional iodine actually blocks radioactive iodine (iodine-131) from being absorbed by your thyroid gland! When you have a sufficient amount of this key nutrient in your body, not only your thyroid, but all other glandular tissues, including breast, prostate and ovaries, are protected. Convenience vs. health.
Radiation has sure been in the news a lot these days—and for good reason. But what about the radiation emitted from your microwave oven? Microwaves are a form of electromagnetic energy, like radio waves or light waves. They don’t use nuclear power, but they do use radio frequencies (RF) like radio and TV broadcast towers, cell phones, and radar. Although they’re a popular way of reheating or even cooking foods, I’ve never been comfortable with them—even though a whopping 95% of the population owns one.
What you can eat to beat nuclear plant fallout.
Last Friday, Japan was hit with an 8.9-magnitude earthquake—the largest since the country began keeping records in the 19th century. It was followed by a tsunami that ripped through the country’s coastline, destroying virtually everything in sight. The quake damaged several nuclear reactors, leading to threats of harmful radioactive leaks and meltdowns. Because radioactivity is airborne, it can be transported for hundreds of miles beyond its origin.
This air-borne radiation may take weeks or even months to reach our coasts, but reach us, it will.
Radiation damages…
Most of us spend 90% of our time indoors. But even in the safety of our own homes, pollution — colorless, odorless, invisible—is detrimental to health.
For starters, ozone—that toxic form of air pollution that clouds our cities—may be 100 times more dangerous indoors than out, the Environmental Protection Agency says.
This kind of pollution reacts with oil found naturally on human skin, which traps toxins, only to spit them out in chemicals that can irritate skin and lungs. Over time, ozone can increase the risk…
