Exercise hormone provides obesity key.
At the beginning of the week, I saw a report on Fox News (Is There an Anti-Obesity Pill on the Way? Jan. 16, 2012) that caught my attention. It concerned a newly-discovered exercise hormone uncovered by Harvard researchers that appears to be a potent catalyst and regulator of metabolism and weight. The study appeared in Nature. So far, so good.
The media has heralded this study and others like it as one of the newest and most promising obesity theories.
If Big Pharma does get involved, I am… Continue reading

The One Day Fat Flush
August 23rd, 2011
Fast for body, mind, and spirit.
Like our 3-Day Metabolism Makeover, juice fasting is a whole new way to think about weight loss. These are healthy "crash diets" that not only work in the short run, but are good for you.
But fasting is much more. Properly done, the ancient tradition of fasting offers a myriad of benefits. Fasting serves as a kind of Sabbath to take a day of rest not only from eating but also from working—an essential aspect of healing for all of us. Fire Up Fat-burning Genes
July 28th, 2011
Lose fast with a metabolism-boosting fat.
Many of my clients deal with the same frustrating issue—they’ve tried to speed up their metabolism by exercising two or three times a week, and though they feel great, the scale hasn’t budged. They are understandably confused and lost in the sea of tempting weight loss aids that are on the market. They want sure-fire but safe weight loss adjuncts without stimulants like caffeine or caffeine-like derivatives like guarana, kola nut, or yerba mate.
My first choice for turbo-charged results is always conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).
The reason: it switches on the genes that speed both metabolism and… Continue reading Tags: belly fat, CLA, conjugated linoleic acid, metabolism, stalled weight loss, weight loss plateau

Fruit Flushing for Summer Detox
July 19th, 2011
Cool down and lose weight with fruit!
Juicy, succulent fruits, especially berries of all kind—like raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries—are the perfect antidote to rising temperatures. But blueberries, especially, are quite the superfruit these days. In honor of the beautiful blues, July has even been named "National Blueberry Month."
With an ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) score of 6552, one cup of blueberries can take care of your minimum daily recommendation of antioxidants and then some. (Of course other berries are also good alternatives, especially blackberries [5347 per cup], raspberries [4882 per cup], and strawberries [3577 per cup].) Blueberries are a… Continue reading Tags: antioxidant, Fat Flush, metabolism, smoothie, Smoothie Shakedown, superfood, thyroid, weight loss plateau, yo-yo dieting

Are You Your Blood Type?
July 7th, 2011
Your body knows best.
Quick, what’s your blood type? Are you an O, A, B, or AB?
I think that your blood type could be the missing link to why you are not losing weight and are vulnerable to certain diseases. Since I wrote my book Your Body Knows Best over fifteen years ago, I’ve come to believe that blood types have just as much to do with what not to eat as with what should be eaten. The answer lies in the lectin connection.
Blood types are part of the immune system… Continue reading Tags: blood types, diet, disease, immune system, lectins, metabolism, stalled weight loss
