Your thyroid plays an enormous role in heart health.
At least 20 million Americans have some kind of thyroid disorder—and all too many go undiagnosed. Although most stats suggest that one out of eight women suffer from thyroid problems, I believe the actual number is much higher—at least 20% of postmenopausal women and even closer to 40% in some populations.
That's a real problem—and not just because your thyroid regulates everything from digestion and muscle function to the integrity of your skin. This tiny gland, located just below your voice box, also controls the… Continue reading Edge on Health Blog

Convenience vs. health.
Radiation has sure been in the news a lot these days—and for good reason. But what about the radiation emitted from your microwave oven? Microwaves are a form of electromagnetic energy, like radio waves or light waves. They don’t use nuclear power, but they do use radio frequencies (RF) like radio and TV broadcast towers, cell phones, and radar. Although they’re a popular way of reheating or even cooking foods, I’ve never been comfortable with them—even though a whopping 95% of the population owns one.

Going beyond green indoors.
Your air tight “green” home with its solar power and energy-efficient windows may be exposing you to indoor toxins you never suspected. As we have tightened our homes to save energy, we have unwittingly restricted proper air circulation, which in turn has increased prolonged exposure to toxicity. Indoor air can contain chemicals that are nearly 100 times more concentrated indoors than outdoors. Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory find commercial air fresheners and cleaning products contain ethylene-based glycol ethers, terpenes, volatile organic compounds… Continue reading Black Friday E-lert

Smart solutions for e-pollution.
Black Friday is right around the corner. Actually you won’t even have to wait until sunrise on Friday because so many big-box stores around the country are now opening their doors at midnight on Thanksgiving. Electronics promise to be the biggest “best buy” this coming holiday season. Americans will be standing in line for the latest e-readers, iPads, tablets, iPhones, smartphones, and of course, digital toys.
Since our lives today are so intertwined with technology, telling anyone that they are being “harmed” by invisible manmade frequencies… Continue readingSimple Solutions to Shield Your Body from EMFs

Earthing, cell phone, cordless phone, laptop and computer protection.
Folks, we have a problem.
The children?
They’re overdone.
The dog?
He’s toast.
And you and me?
We’re steadily burning ourselves to a crisp.
Is this a blog about sunscreen?
Nope.
It’s about personal technology and how we’re using all of our favorite gadgets and gizmos and TV screens and computers and appliances to literally cook ourselves from the inside out.
As Dr. Andrew Weil once said, “Electromagnetic pollution may be the most significant form of pollution human activity has produced in this century, all the more dangerous because it is invisible and… Continue reading It is Not All in Your Head

Electrical hypersensitivity triggers and treatment.
I’m concerned. No – make that worried. Really worried.
With the debut of the iPhone 4S, the breaking news about how children absorb 50% more microwaves than adults is truly alarming.
So, I turned to EMF expert Melody Chan Graves to give us an update on the latest research regarding electrohypersensitivity and what cutting edge environmental docs like Dr. Bill Rea of the Environmental Health Center in Dallas, TX are really seeing with their patients.
By the way, Melody Chan Graves herself overcame a debilitating case of fibromyalgia with… Continue reading Summertime Barefoot Cure

Lower stress and promote calmness by taking off your shoes.
It’s the strangest thing I ever heard, but could our shoes be killing us? Synthetically-soled shoes, unlike the leather soles of decades ago, insulate the body from the natural healing energies of the earth—which is as basic to health as water, air, and food. The earth is an endless source of negative electrons which can quickly neutralize free radical-induced inflammation—the cause behind pain, tension, swelling, and stress.
That's why the Earthing technique and technology is becoming so popular among everyday people who are suffering from a lack of energy, poor sleep, hormonal… Continue reading Supercharge Your Immunity

Fight cell phone pollution from the inside out.
Since the news broke that the World Health Organization has classified cell phones as a “possible carcinogenic hazard” the media has been relentless. Yesterday, the NY Times even weighed in.
I think there is plenty we can do right now—today—to protect ourselves before we learn that cell phones really weren't good for our health in the first place. (Think about the suppression of evidence regarding tobacco, asbestos, agent orange, HRT, and tanning beds.)
Here's what I think: Since EMFs target your cells—the membranes in particular—you must keep your minerals at top notch levels… Continue reading What Europeans Know About Cell Phone Safety

Should cell phones be banned from children?
The Parliamentary Assembly in Europe concluded on May 6th—after an in-depth examination of evidence—that cell phones and Wi-Fi should be banned in schools. Why? Because of their “potentially harmful” effects on humans…especially “little” humans. And in breaking news today, the World Health Organization is now labeling mobile phones a "carcinogenic hazard"—like lead and chloroform.
Children are always the most vulnerable victims of environmental pollution. For instance, because of their size, they absorb 50 percent more air pollution than adults. When it… Continue reading Got Milk?

I hope not.
It’s all over the news. The radiation from the Japanese Fukushima nuclear meltdown is spreading world wide—and has been found in our milk. The levels of Iodine 131 alone have been reported to be 300% higher than maximum. But what about the other radioactive elements that could be in milk—a primary food source of calcium that many Americans depend upon for building strong teeth and bones.
First off, it’s strange to me that nobody is talking about Strontium 90—the most hazardous of all radiation elements to the bones and teeth. It… Continue reading
