Invisible, odorless, and silent, wireless radiation wreaks havoc 24/7.
Having trouble focusing? Can't sleep through the night?
Those are just some of the symptoms of attention deficit disorder (ADD) and/or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). A genetic disorder affecting an estimated 3 to 5% of children and adults worldwide—in some countries like Australia as high as 11%—attention deficits are believed to have both environmental and nutritional components.
If attention problems and/or hyperactivity come on suddenly, though, wireless technology and other forms of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) may be to blame. While all the known mechanisms aren't…

This is a great time of year to get moving—so why aren't you?
Less than half of Americans exercise regularly—at least 3 times weekly for at least 30 minutes. And that's down from last year, reports a recent survey that interviewed about 1,000 people a day.
Over the past several decades, scientists have identified multiple benefits for moderate exercise. It protects the heart, combats numerous cancers, boosts metabolism and mood, puts the spark back in your sex life, promotes sound sleep, enhances immunity and fights infection, relieves stress, lengthens longevity, and (when done right)…

Even a "no-no"—in moderation—can benefit wellness.
Drinking a few cups of tea—and, yes, a little coffee—can help lower your risk of dying from heart disease, Dutch research recently reported. A long-term study of over 37,000 people shows that moderate tea drinkers had a 45% lower mortality risk than those who drank less than one cup a day.
And those who enjoyed several daily cups of "Joe" had a 20% lower risk of death from heart disease than those who drank either a lot of coffee or none at all. "For healthy people, it appears…

Only a half-inch long, pinworms are a big parasite problem.
It's hard to believe, but over 40 million Americans experience pinworm infections, or enterobiasis, in any given year. Unless the parasitic infestation is particularly heavy, though, most people will not recognize its symptoms.
The most noticeable—and probably the least likely to be discussed—sign of these tiny parasites is rectal itching, especially at night when female worms deposit their eggs. According to the Centers for Disease Control, pinworm eggs become infective within just a few hours.
Because these parasites can survive for 2 to 3…

Detox and diet to banish belly fat and reduce risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
It doesn't get the attention that the heart and brain do. But your liver is every bit as important, performing close to 400 different jobs from transforming food into energy and controlling hormonal balance to producing bile that supports healthy digestion.
The largest organ in the body, the liver is also a potent detoxifier. Perhaps its most important function, detoxification—ironically—puts the liver at great risk for damage. Everything from alcohol abuse and environmental toxins to parasites and unprotected…

Electro-sensitivity may be an early warning of how EMF exposure can harm us all.
"Several years ago, I started having difficulty concentrating in my apartment. But when I went across the street and stayed at a friend's, I felt fine," says Camilla Rees, the founder of ElectromagneticHealth.org. Since there were no mold and chemical problems in her apartment, she was baffled why she felt bad there but not elsewhere.
As her symptoms expanded to blurred vision, dizziness, eye fluttering, fatigue, heart palpitations, skin rashes, "and a deep urge to move my bed to the…

Women want a shiny head of hair, not whiskers!
Facial hair can be the bane of women as they grow older—right around the same time, sadly, when their "crowning glory" starts to become thinner and grayer. One recent study shows that 10% of menopausal women complain of facial "fuzz," but unwanted hair can start sprouting as early as perimenopause.
Women who are younger with facial hair, in their 20s and 30s, may have another—more serious—concern, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), especially if they're overweight, experience menstrual irregularities, and/or acne. While the direct cause of PCOS…

The right protein protects muscles while helping you shed pounds.
Exercise is the ultimate anti-aging secret—helping to balance blood sugar, protecting the heart and bones, lifting mood, boosting metabolism, and (if done right) paring off inches and pounds. Even during pregnancy, regular physical activity provides significant benefits to mother and child, a new study in the journal Sports Medicine shows.
However, Stanford University research with middle-aged men and women suggests that extremely vigorous workouts can weaken bone density later in life. And increasingly, experts are pointing to the need for protein to support…

Shed unwanted belly fat.
Numerous research links abdominal fat with cardiovascular disease and insulin resistance in Type 2 diabetes. Now, a new investigation of over 700 American adults associates belly fat with decreased brain volume, a risk factor for dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
As reported in the Annals of Neurology, scientists at the Boston University School of Medicine found the greater the amount of belly fat, the smaller the brain volume. "This is not really surprising," says Dr. Susanne Sorenson, who heads up research at the Alzheimer's Society, "as a large stomach is…

How to best meet your unique health needs.
Despite efforts to address gender differences in healthcare in recent years, research at the Center for Excellence in Women's Health at the University of Arizona concludes "the major advances and measures of the health of women did not focus on specific changes to individual women in illness management, clinical care, or individual behavioral changes," suggesting that more needs to be done.
Women tend to take better care of their health—engaging in fewer risk taking behaviors than men—which helps explain why they tend…
