What You Need to Know About Seasonal Weight Loss.
Detox can be downright dangerous in winter—unless you pay attention to the seasonal demands on your body. Fasting and detox drain your body of essential nutrients, particularly this time of year.
The influence of the seasons is one of the most vital—but overlooked—aspects of wellness. That’s why I wrote Fat Flush for Life, the Year-Round Super Detox Plan to Boost Your Metabolism and Keep the Weight Off Permanently—with healing strategies to take advantage of your body’s unique response to each season.
You can detox and lose weight safely on a one-day juice fast (like my Christmas Cleanse in the December 21st issue of Woman’s World). But, otherwise, this is not the time of year to rely on raw foods. During the winter, your body needs cooked foods to sustain body heat and support immunity.
This is the season when your body naturally slows down, and the physical and psychological stresses (cold weather, the holidays, and overwork) can exhaust your kidneys and adrenals. This can lead to fatigue, cause cravings for salty foods or sweets, and make it hard to wake up and get going in the morning. You may also experience frequent pain or weakness in the knees or lower back.
To replenish your system in the winter, you need to eat warming foods—even with a lighter diet after the holidays. Winter Fat Flush can lower cholesterol, balance blood sugar levels, improve thyroid function, make you more regular, normalize liver enzymes, and enhance immunity so you have fewer colds and viruses.
Slimming Fats
The Winter Fat Flush Diet includes a variety of slimming oils. High-Lignan Flaxseed Oil or fish oil—one tablespoon a day—fights inflammation, balances blood sugar levels, and inhibits weight gain. In addition, you can add another tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil, coconut oil, sesame oil, or macadamia nut oil.
Macadamia nut oil is even higher than olive oil in healthy monounsaturated fats. It tastes great—with an exquisite nutty flavor and aroma. Macadamia nut’s smoke point is about twice as high as olive oil’s, making it terrific for the holiday recipes in Fat Flush for Life. Best of all, this oil helps raise the level of omega-3 fats in cell membranes—and even boosts beneficial HDL cholesterol levels.
Super Foods for Winter Fat Flush
Quality protein (grass-fed meat and poultry plus omega-3-rich fish), seasonal fruits (apples, pears, pomegranates), limited amounts of hypoallergenic “Clean Carbs” (cooked acorn and butternut squash, sweet potatoes, beets, and turnips), warming winter grains (amaranth cereal, brown or wild rice, buckwheat, oatmeal, popcorn, quinoa, and rice or spelt pasta), nuts, sea vegetables, seeds (especially omega-3-rich chia for satisfying fiber), and (as long as you’re not sensitive) a limited amount of dairy can banish bloat and speed up fat loss, while nourishing your body.
Wake up each winter morning with a Spiced Lemon Toddy. Adding fragrant cinnamon and ginger to this warming beverage will give your metabolism an extra boost. And Winter Fat Flush includes plenty of other warming seasonings and spices (allspice, cardamom, cayenne, cloves, fennel, nutmeg, rosemary, sage, thyme, and wasabi, to name a few).
Added Fat Flush Support
Optimize winter weight loss with Fat Flush Kit supplements. These include:
• Dieter’s Multi (with or without iron) for balanced vitamin and mineral support
• GLA-90 to stimulate brown fat metabolism (naturally increasing your body’s own fat-burning capacity)
• Weight Loss Formula (stimulant-free) for carbohydrate control, fat metabolism, and liver support
I also recommend taking 1,000 mg CLA (conjugated linolenic acid) with each meal. In addition to helping retain lean muscle mass during weight loss, CLA modulates your body’s immune response and protects against heart disease. This supplement has even been found to lower blood sugar levels in obese older women.
Last but never least, sweat helps detoxify your body of heavy metals and fat-storage toxins. For Winter Fat Flush, enjoy a dry-heat sauna, starting for 5 minutes and working up to 20 minutes, three times a week. In just 15 minutes, you’ll sweat out a quart of water!
In addition to detoxification, sweating improves blood flow while your heart gets a very gentle workout. A sauna can even help relieve arthritis and musculoskeletal pain, depression, and fatigue.

I went to 3 grocery stores and Barnes and Noble and not one of them had the Woman’s World magazine. I own all the fat flush books, but because I just moved they’re all in storage. I wanted to do the one-day holiday fast tomorrow before I headed to the relatives on Weds. Is there any way I can access the protocol online? I’ll even purchase it…
Fast Track’s One Day Detox Diet “miracle juice” is similar. You could actually do that with similar results
couldn’t agree with you more Ann, wait till March 20th to start the fat burning detox. Winter is for maintenance.
