Jumpstart your metabolism!

September 6, 2005

Hot dogs, potato salad, funnel cake—we've been eating our way through the summer. And it shows! Luckily, we've got Ann Louise Gittleman, Ph.D., on speed dial. We convinced the diet guru to give Woman's World an exclusive peek at a special summer-time version of her patented fat-flushing technique. "If you're not getting the right nourishment and nutrients for hot weather, you won't lose a much weight," reveals the pro. So she's packed her plan with the stuff you need. "It's basically a metabolism-boosting detox." One so powerful that most of us can shed four to seven pounds in three days. Wow!

Gittleman's regimen also primes the calorie-burning systems that tend to "crash" after crash diets. So, "you end up better able to lose weight over the long term," promises Gittleman.

Amazing success!

Woman's World cover girl Anne Leary sure wasn't disappointed. She whisked off five pounds in 72 hours. Then there's Rita Cirullo, a South Beach dieter whose weight loss had stalled at 30 pounds. After weeks of disappointment, Rita was shocked when Gittleman helped her drop four more pounds. But Tina Jacobs' story takes the cake. Over the course of a weekend, she turned off her carb cravings, broke free of constant fatigue and lost seven pounds!

Why it works
Gittleman breaks it down like this...

  •  The fluid factor

In addition to three fat-flushing, metabolism-revving "cocktails" a day, you get lots and lots of water. Staying well-hydrated has been found to keep metabolism running 3% higher.

  •  The "heat" factor

When researchers studied a drink much like Gittleman's, they found it contained enough cayenne pepper to accelerate heat production in the body, turning up fat burn.

  •  The high-metabolism tradeoff

Forget all those grain foods we usually eat. They trigger the release of insulin, which promotes hunger and fat storage. Instead, Gittleman has you fill up on protein—eggs, fish, chicken and more. Protein won't cause insulin to be released—plus "it stimulates the metabolism by 25%," she smiles.

  •  The detox factor

Downing nature's most powerful cleansing agents—especially green vegetables—helps rid your body of toxins that stall fat burning. Because toxins, from pesticides in food and pollution, are stored in fat cells, the more we detox, the more fat cells shrink.

  •  Fats with fire power

Though this plan is low in calories, it still provides plenty of good fat. The reason? Studies show that good fats burn off much more quickly than bad ones. And as they burn, they create more metabolism-boosting heat!

So why not give it a try? Everything you need to get started—and to rev up your calorie-burning machinery—is right here on these pages!

Here are your miracle menus

Wow! These quick-and-easy meals spike metabolism on the double! Each day, be sure to drink a half ounce of water for every pound you weigh. (Example: if you weigh 160 lbs, drink 80 oz. of water or ten 8-oz. cups.) As with any new plan, get your doctor's okay before you begin.
