"I came across 'The Fat Flush Plan' at a weight of 186 lbs and a height of 5’4”. I had joined both a weight loss challenge with co-workers and an online challenge. While on one of the message boards for the online challenge, I met a woman who was on Phase 1of Fat Flush. She had lost 8 lbs that week. That type of loss would pique the interest of anyone who had the amount of weight to lose that I did—about 60 lbs.
I was not willing to go on the crash diets I had done in the past (Atkins, South Beach, Cabbage Soup, 'Slim' Tea, you name it), nor did I think I could be successful on plans like Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig. I had done those diets in the past, and for many reasons, they did not work for me. I expected that my weight loss efforts would consume the better part of the year, and understood that slow and steady loss meant that I was training my body to crave better foods, and that I was learning to live a healthier lifestyle.
So, when I heard about the 8 lb weight loss, I was both intrigued and skeptical. I was interested enough to venture to the bookstore to pursue the book. I purchased a copy that day and began the plan immediately. Ann Louise Gittleman’s plan combined all of the things I had been hearing and reading for months into one very detailed plan. I knew that all the rules in the plan would work for me because I’d followed a plan with many rules before, an eating plan for diabetics after being diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes during my second pregnancy.
I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes very early in my second pregnancy. I was borderline with my first child, so it was no surprise to me. My doctor told me that I was likely in a pre-diabetic stage pre-pregnancy—a diagnosis that rang true after my daughter was born and my blood sugar levels remained at the high end of normal.
I began the plan when my baby was 14 months old and I was still breastfeeding once a day. It’s important to note that both my Obstetrician and my daughter’s pediatrician approved of my weight loss efforts through these avenues, and carefully monitored us to ensure my baby continued to thrive. There were some ingredients in the Fat Flush Kit that I could not take, so I put together my own regimen of supplements that eliminated those ingredients (like chromium) that I did not want to pass to my daughter. That certainly was a more expensive and inconvenient way to go!! I added a few more grams of protein to ensure I was not affecting my supply of milk, and off I went.
I lost 33 lbs in the first three months and won the challenge among my co-workers. I drummed up enough interest to start another challenge right away. My daughter weaned herself, and I was able to finally use the normal Fat Flush Kit. I won that second challenge, too. I was then down about 50 lbs. I spent the next several months straddling Phase 2 and Phase 3. I never went back to the sugar, artificial sweeteners, and yeast breads that Fat Flush discourages, but I was not doing a 'clean' Phase 2, either. I continued with the Fat Flush supplements, including the Fat Flush Kit and UNI KEY's Super-GI Cleanse.
I was treating myself daily with Zantac and a handful of Tums. I was often doubled-over in pain, had to avoid eating while drinking a glass of wine, and had to eat almost immediately upon rising. I found that I was intolerant to dairy products. My Acid Refulx—that had been so bad the paramedics were once called to treat me—had disappeared. Additionally, my Irritable Bowel Syndrome that I had been experiencing during many afternoons for years was gone. I have attributed those problems to all of the Diet Sodas I consumed in the morning through the early afternoon. My insides thanked me for finding this plan.
Eventually, I decided it was time to take off that last 10 lbs. I enlisted that same crew of people who I had beaten in the last two challenges. Who would be crazy enough to play with me again? Well, they did, and I won again. I actually beat a woman who was on a medical fasting plan and was consuming no food at all. My percentage of weight loss was nearly 2 points higher than hers. I am now down over 60 lbs, and have passed my original goal of 128 lbs.
When I read 'The Fat Flush Plan,' it all made sense to me. I immediately jumped into Phase 1, then moved on to Phase 2 about three weeks later. I did a 'clean' Phase 1 and Phase 2 for over 3 months. The weight just melted off. My body and mind was transforming. I was no longer that fat girl I saw in the mirror. I never recognized that fat person in the mirror, anyway, so it wasn’t hard for me when the weight started coming off. The positive comments I was getting from friends and co-workers were encouraging. I was beginning to meet the small goals I had set for myself—I was able to fit the towel around myself at the gym, I was able to fit into single-digit size clothes, I ran a mile without stopping, I walked 4 miles with my oldest daughter, I was able to fit in that pair of Seven jeans. That 128 lb goal I had set for myself was met with relative ease.
After nearly a year on Fat Flush, using the Fat Flush Kit, Super-GI Cleanse, and eventually CLA supplements, I made it to my goal. I went from a BMI that put me in the 'obese' category to being very comfortably in the 'normal' range. I went from a size 16 to a size 2. I have greatly reduced the chance that I’ll ever be diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Best of all, I have become a role model for my daughters. They see me eating healthy, not dieting. They see me making excellent food choices, preparing balanced meals, and they are beginning to understand how food affects us.
This plan has changed my life. I share it with everyone who asks, and given my rapid and dramatic change, a LOT of people ask!! I am looking forward to learning how to incorporate more Phase 3 food options into my diet. I also now always look forward to shopping for a new season of clothes. I have a whole closet to fill!"
