"To say that 'The Fat Flush Plan' changed my life would be an understatement. This is my story:
After suffering from heavy, painful periods since menarche, I was put on birth control pills at age sixteen. They seemed to help and I stayed on them for about seven or eight years, until they no longer did the trick. The pain was starting to return and I was now married, so I thought it would be time to start a family. I stopped taking the pill and my husband and I decided to let nature take its course as far as becoming pregnant was concerned.
Fast forward 5 years. The pain and heavy periods had only worsened, and our years of 'letting nature take its course' produced no results. The only choice my doctor gave me was to try another birth control pill. I didn't want that, so I simply tried to ignore the pain and just go on with life, until it got to the point where I could no longer ignore it.
I found another doctor who suggested a laparoscopy. I didn’t really want surgery, but went along with it, believing that it would help. I had the surgery, and the diagnosis was endometriosis. I was told it had been completely removed and I should be back to work in three days. Two weeks later I was no better than before and vowed I would never have another surgery.
3 years later the pain had again only worsened—this time to the point where I could no longer even work. I sought out a different doctor who suggested yet another laparoscopy. I agreed once again. He removed the endometriosis, which he described as a case 'beyond severe.' Many of my organs were adhered together, which was causing the now daily pain I was in. Once again the surgery did not help.
Over the course of the next couple years I had three more surgeries. Each time the endometriosis was completely removed, yet every surgery showed that it had returned at an unbelievable rate. The pain now was so bad that I could barley function. Performing everyday tasks, such as brushing my hair or dressing myself, became monumental. There were days when the pain would knock me to the floor. Pain pills did nothing to relieve it.
All the while my weight had crept up and up and up. I did not even recognize the person staring back at me in the mirror. My blood pressure soared to an astonishing 160/120. At one point I was on three different blood pressure medications.
Once when I was having a fairly good day and able to get out of the house, I went to my local health food store searching, yet again, for something, anything that might help. 'The Fat Flush Plan' caught my eye because of Dr. Barry Sears’ name on the cover. I was familiar with his work and had tried his Zone diet with great success years before. I came home and researched the book on Amazon before finally buying it..
My husband and I decided to hold of starting the program for a few months. In the meantime I was reading the book and trying to eat healthier.
My husband and I traveled fifty miles to our hometown to spend time with our families. I was feeling a bit better now due to the fact that I was trying to eat healthier in preparation for beginning ‘The Fat Flush Plan’. The next day the unbelievable happened. My sixty-three year old mother passed away suddenly from an apparent heart attack.
I knew now more than ever that I had to do something about the weight I had put on. I was following in her footsteps, only at a much faster pace. It was now a matter of life or death. Due to the extreme grief, however, I couldn’t seem to 'get it together.' I went back to eating the old comfort foods.
I finally tried Phase 1 of Fat Flush, thinking that we could just do that part as a detox, and then go back to our normal healthy diet, using Phase 1 as a quarterly detox. After repeating Phase 1 and going back to our 'healthy' diet, we realized that we felt much better on 'The Fat flush Plan.' We both decided that the next time we did the two week detox, we would continue with Fat Flush, this time making it a way of life. We then officially began our Fat Flush journey. The change has been incredible. My husband reached his goal weight after about four months, losing 41 lbs. He’s gone from an X-large shirt to a medium and from a 36 pants to a 32.
I have lost 36 lbs and over 40 inches from my chest, waist, hips, both thighs and both upper arms, and have gone from a XX-large shirt to a large and from a size 12 pants to a size 4.
The most amazing improvement though has been my health. My pain has nearly disappeared. I can sleep through the night now, and can walk without assistance—even run! I am off all medications, including blood pressure medications. My period no longer has me on the floor writhing in pain.
I cannot thank Ann Louise enough for developing such a healthy eating plan. It truly has been a Godsend."
