Cleansing/Parasites
"As long as beneficial bacteria dominate and hover around the 85 percent mark, the other 15 percent of harmful bacteria usually don't present a problem."
—Dr. Ann Louise
Do you know where your immune system is located?
If you're not sure, you're not alone. Still, the answer may surprise you: 75% of your body's immune cells are located in your gut (60% in the colon and another 15% in the lower part of the small intestine).
Your gut functions much like a fortress, maintaining a protective environment where food can be broken down and fed to voracious cells awaiting much-needed nutrients. A healthy gut is populated by literally trillions of bacteria—both good and bad.
As long as beneficial bacteria (probiotics) stay in balance with the pathogenic germs, your digestive tract—and overall health—will remain strong. But when bad bacteria (campylobacter, listeria, salmonella, staphylococcus, and "superbugs" like MRSA), fungi, parasites, and viruses get the upper hand, leaky gut can occur, allowing undigested proteins and other toxins to enter the body, causing numerous and seemingly unrelated problems.
Parasites—the "Great Masqueraders"
If you think parasites cause only digestive disorders (bloating, constipation, diarrhea, gas, and irritable bowel), think again. Parasitic infections can also lead to allergies, anemia, chronic fatigue syndrome, immune dysfunction, joint and muscle pain, organ damage, skin problems, sleep disturbances, and teeth grinding.
Internal cleansing (particularly colon cleansing and irrigation) can help relieve bloating, gas, and impaired digestion, as well as allergies (even gluten sensitivity), anxiety, arthritic symptoms, headaches, inflammation, irritability, mental fog, parasites, and skin conditions (acne, eczema, and rash). After cleansing, be sure to repopulate your GI tract with probiotics to restore a healthy balance of bacteria.
Quick Facts
-
You may be carrying around anywhere from 7 to 10 pounds of encrusted fecal matter in your bowel or colon.
-
At least one-third of dogs in the U. S. are infected with some form of intestinal parasite—and almost all puppies are born with roundworms, which are easily passed on to humans.
-
More than half of all Americans will be host to one or more of 130 different kinds of parasites—ranging from microscopic organisms to foot-long tapeworms—at some point in their lives; these unwanted guests can linger in the body for up to 30 years.

Quote
"Every tissue in the body is fed by the bloodstream, which is supplied by the bowel. When the bowel is dirty, so are the organs and tissues. It is the bowel that must be cared for first."
